Karwan is a tribute to the heritage and natural character of Jnane Tamsna's landscape. Gary's vision for the vegetation, brought to life by our talented team of gardeners, features raised beds where we cultivate the organic produce at the heart of our cuisine. He was inspired to create a "calendar garden" along the edge of Karwan, his idea being to always have something in bloom, no matter the season.
In the center stands an ancient earthen house, a rare gem of local vernacular architecture. When Meryanne first arrived in Morocco in 1985, the Palmeraie was dotted with timeless structures like these. Today, they are increasingly rare - all the more reason to protect this precious space.
Karwan features a Marrakech glamping experience. The arrangement of the tents around the adobe house creates a dialogue between past and present, blending history with comfort and practicality.

EXPLORER SUITE
The Explorer suite is composed of two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a salon. Meryanne conceived this space with references to the 1930s and 1940s, imagining the interior of a refined ethnographer or geographer who might have created, in the middle of the desert, a place of great comfort to return to at the end of the day. The suite is documented with a collection of old photographs from the Sahara and the Sahel.

PEARL SUITE
Throughout the Pearl suite, Meryanne has placed a small collection of old books and artworks that have followed her and Gary for many years. Several of the prints predate the birth of their children, Edward and Thaïs, and were once displayed in a Paris apartment where the family lived at the time. Found through an antique dealer at the Paris flea market, these pieces have moved with her over the years.

TIMBUKTU TENT
In the Timbuktu tent, the bedside tables are made from trays sourced in Mauritania, referencing the Sahelian Sahara and reinforcing the room's connection to desert cultures. Curtains are made from handwoven fabrics by Aïssa Dione in Senegal, whose work Meryanne has used since the period when she ran a concept store in Marrakech between 1999 and 2004.

PUNJAB TENT
The Punjab tent features a suzani bedthrow, originally from regions such as Turkey and Pakistan, which blends naturally with the aesthetics of an Indian interior. The headboard is upholstered in silk that Meryanne sourced in Jaisalmer the last time she visited India. A small embroidered cushion, made by women in northern Morocco, completes the composition.
